Summertime means more cyberpredators signing online
With summer soon arriving, parents of young children should be aware that more cyber predators will be signing online. Predators know that children will be out of school and using the Internet more often.
Web sites like MySpace and programs like AOL Instant Messenger are gold mines for cyber predators because they make young kids all over the world accessible to them,” said Chris Faulkner, the CEO of CI Host, the world’s largest, privately held Web-hosting company. “A child’s diary used to be a sacred thing hidden under the bed, but today kids will broadcast their personal information and pictures all over the Internet for friends and strangers alike to see.”
A Very good article - says a lot!

Arrest in luring girl, 11, over Net
Man allegedly had sex with Porterville child after meeting online

Authorities believe a Los Angeles college student used the Internet to seduce an 11-year-old Porterville girl for sex after meeting her in an online chat room.
Court records show Breceda met the 11-year-old girl in January in an online chat room that uses video cameras so users can see each other.
Two relatives posed as the girl and used the computer to contact Breceda and learned more about the relationship, according to court records.
"The credit has to go to the family," Sgt. Chris Douglass said about their help in capturing Breceda.
"The biggest thing that [parents] can do is to monitor what their children are doing on the Internet and know what their children are doing with friends," she said.
"The credit has to go to the Family" - Kudos. Families should not wait until the authorities have to step in......

Prison for internet "groomer"
AN EAST Dean businessman who targeted a schoolgirl for sexual activity after grooming her on an internet chat site has been jailed for three years.
"You and others like you must understand that if you use the internet to groom young children for sexual purposes you can expect little mercy from the courts," said the judge.
Forty-three-year-old Parfitt met up with the 11-year-old girl in the Walsall, West Midlands, area.
He maintained he had never asked the girl for sex but Stephen Thomas, prosecuting, said he arranged a meeting with the girl when he was in the Walsall area on business.
He didn't ask for sex but I bet he would have taken it. Good to see another one behind bars but I still wonder about the ones who do not get caught......

Web pervert admits grooming girl
A 41-year-old man became “obsessed” with a Norwich schoolgirl after grooming her for months in an internet chat room, a court heard yesterday.
James Palmer posed as a “fit, virile and handsome” 17-year-old boy on the internet and tricked the 13-year-old into meeting him through emails and text messages.
When they finally met, he pretended he was an older friend of the boy, and became “suicidal” when she spurned him after he revealed his identity.
He used his own name and address but took on an “alter ego” of a model-like teenage boy and posted photos on the internet of his virtual self pictured in various locations.
This is a perfect grooming example. How gullible are your kids?

Man charged with luring, sexual assault - Victim, 13, met accused on the Internet
A 36-year-old Scarborough man faces several charges after a 13-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted after meeting someone with whom she had struck up an Internet friendship.
Through an online chat room, the teenager from Peterborough County began a relationship with a suspect about two months ago.
Two months of Internet chatting and nobody knew nothing?
"They (predators) constantly talk to someone (a child) to gain their confidence. They pretend to be someone else. They learn their location, address," Searle said. "Technology allows them to hide behind the computer screen and they can do whatever they want. They can be whoever they want to be to live out their fantasies."
Scary thought......

Internet sex beast gets life
A COMPUTER geek from Waltham Abbey who had sex with a 14-year-old girl after grooming her over the internet was given a life sentence this week.
The victim logged into an internet chat room in November 2005 because she was bored. She made it clear she was 13 and female.
She became more and more dependent on the relationship she had with him and by Christmas they were exchanging 15 texts a day.
He got what he deserved but it all could have been prevented if the parents only knew....
Judge Charles Byers told him on Tuesday: "Let there be no mistake that those who groom children on the internet behave in my view in a manner as badly as someone who prowls the street looking for a victim or loiters outside the school gate waiting for young girls."
It's all the same thing - parents worry about their kids at the playground or after school - the Internet is just a huge playground for these Internet Predators. Start worrying about them...

FBI Agents Catch Accused Sexual Predator From Post
An accused sexual predator from Post is now behind bars.
Police say a local woman drove ten hours to meet a teenage girl for sex. Like many sexual escapades, these two females met online, fostered a relationship, and planned to meet.
FBI agents arrested 20 year old Adora Ramirez of Post, Texas, late last week in Louisiana on the charge of soliciting sex from a minor.
Officials say on Friday, Ramirez drove nearly 600 miles to meet a 15 year old girl. They say the two met on the internet and had sexual conversations through chat rooms, e-mails, and text messages.
