Man charged with luring Terrace girl
POLICE ARE warning parents of the dangers lurking for children on the Internet after a teenage boy from Kitimat was charged after having a sexually explicit conversation with a pre-teen Terrace girl in an Internet chat room last week.
Terrace RCMP arrested 18-year-old Lionel Smith in Terrace after the 11-year-old girl reported the chat room incident to her parents Nov. 13.
The young man was released on strict conditions including no unsupervised contact with any person under the age of 14, not to possess or access any computer........ Hmmm Maybe that's the ticket!

This is an ongoing case and the facts of this case have yet to be revealed in court so until that time you should reserve your comments you jackass. You have said it yourself that kids nowadays are far from innocent so whats to stop a child from accusing someone with a false allegation and ruining a life? it's happened before. You want to report on child predators, thats fine but wait for the outcome of a trial before judging someone as guilty otherwise you just come across as another jackass with a blog.

In Canada, police are supposed to use reasonable and probable grounds as a standard for making an arrest. If this person was arrested and charged with an offence, then in all likelihood that criteria was met, meaning this person will have his opportunity to contest this charge in court.

The bottom line is that a child’s allegation without any evidence simply makes a person a suspect. A child’s allegation with supporting evidence will result in a charge being laid in court. When this person goes to court, the facts will come out and this person will either be found guilty or innocent.

Actually he was found guilty, and on may 16 ,2008 was sentanced to strict conditions. thank god there is justice out there to protect children from these sick predators!!! so maybe you should get your facts straight. conditions for these offenders are public knowledge.

The fellow named Lionel Smith, who was convicted of trying to lure a minor on the Internet is now living in Nanaimo. Is there any reason to be concerned since it was quite a few years ago ?
