Marietta man sentenced to 30 years for online child pornography - A Marietta man was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for coercing teenage boys to produce sexually-explicit images of themselves and send them to him over the Internet.
Michael Macaluso, 38, was convicted in December of getting at least two boys to send him nude photos and sexually-explicit masochistic videos. He will have to register as a sex offender and spend the rest of his life under supervision after his prison term.
“This defendant personifies what should frighten every parent ... : someone masquerading on internet social media, such as Facebook and MySpace, as an innocent, curious teenager looking to make new friends. McDonough predator sentenced to 30 years, made initial contact through internet chat line - A McDonough man who traveled to Rome with the express purpose of having sex with a 13-year-old girl was sentenced to serve 20 years in prison this morning.
Michael Lee Burnette, 46, was found guilty of aggravated child molestation, cruelty to children, enticing a child and statutory rape charges
Burnette used an internet chat service, called the Quest chat line, to make initial contact with the victim and on at least one other occasion Burnett coerced the 13 year-old child, through intimidation, to allow him into her parent’s home by threatening to tell the child’s parents of a previous encounter.
Burnette will have to register as a sex offender and be chemically castrated upon release.
It’s a shame they have to use chemicals…

Jury: Man guilty of child sex crime - A 34-year-old Beaver Dam man accused of using the Internet to lure a teenage girl for sex has been found guilty.
The felony charges stem from a Dec. 28, 2007, incident involving a 14-year-old Waupun girl and carry a maximum sentence of 53 years in prison and an additional 33 years of extended supervision.
The Waupun teen told investigators she met Campbell through a chat room on the Internet and invited him to come to her Waupun home to watch TV in her bedroom while her mother was at work, according to the criminal complaint.
While Campbell was in the residence, the girl told police that he grabbed her in a sexual manner. The victim also testified that Campbell masturbated in front of her and touched her breast, according to the complaint.
Campbell told the court that he had only a spotty memory of the incident, a statement that Assistant District Attorney Kurt Klomberg called a “cop-out” and a way to avoid taking responsibility for his actions, Barrington said.
I’m thinking he will have a lot of time to remember…

Posed as millionaire, man gets 6 1/2 years for luring - A fraud artist who tricked a 12-year-old Cambridge girl into a sexual encounter with a promise of $200 million was sentenced yesterday to 6 1/2 years in jail.
Thomas Woodward, 32, met the girl in an internet chat room and exchanged hundreds of cellphone text messages with her before arranging a meeting.
The girl was at first reluctant, but agreed to sex for money after Woodward, posing as a Russian millionaire, gradually increased his offer.
Woodward took the girl to an area in Cambridge near railway tracks, where they had intercourse and she performed oral sex on him. As part of the con, Woodward let her hear a telephone message suggesting he had opened a bank account into which he would transfer her payment. The money never showed up.
"Her parents were contemplating bankruptcy and she wanted to help them out," Justice Sharon Nicklas said.
I am still amazed about what kids will do. Now if only more parents would watch what their children do on the computer…

Man gets 6-15 years for having sex with 14-year-old - A Maryland man who traveled to Jackson to have sex with a 14-year-old girl said Thursday he thought she was legal. ``I thought she was 18 or 19,'' said 30-year-old Kenneth Roberto.
Circuit Judge John McBain sentenced Roberto to six to 15 years in prison for third-degree criminal sexual conduct, once known as statutory rape. He pleaded guilty in October.
Roberto said he met the girl on a chat room and talked to her over the phone before coming to Michigan in late summer.
Although he told McBain he discovered the girl's age shortly after having intercourse with her, Assistant Prosecutor Nick Mehalco said there were three or four encounters.
``I have turned toward the Lord,'' Roberto said, guaranteeing McBain he would never pursue underage girls again.

Former Baptist youth minister sentenced for child molesting - A former Southern Baptist youth minister in Kentucky was sentenced Oct. 31 to 10 years in prison after confessing to sexually exploiting a 14-year-old girl he met while posing as a 17-year-old youth evangelist on the social-networking website MySpace.
Timothy Scott Richerson, 40, of Greensburg, Ky., admitted in July that he met the girl online and then followed up with computer and telephone messages during the summer of 2007. That September he drove about 50 miles from his home in Greensburg, Ky., to the victim's home in Madison County, where he sexually exploited her.
His MySpace page’s "about me" profile reads: "Here to serve God by providing a Christian view of the youth, as we face many of life's obstacles!"

Man cleared of luring teen, Calgarian met girl on web chat site - A man who had sex with a 13-year-old after meeting her on a popular Internet chat site was acquitted Wednesday after the judge said he didn't believe all of the girl's testimony.
The girl's mother was upset by Wednesday's ruling, saying she believes the onus was on Armstrong to determine the girl's age.

Predatory Pedophile Jailed for 4 Years - A PAEDOPHILE who used the internet to repeatedly prey on children was today jailed for four years.
Adrian Charles Gray, 51, of Helston, was sentenced at Swansea Crown Court this afternoon after earlier pleading guilty to 15 counts of inciting children to commit and to watch sexual acts online.
Police said at least seven of the charges related to seven different youngsters while other charges involved him making and possessing indecent images of children.
Several computers and associated media were seized in a search of the property.
They were taken to the force's hi-tech crime unit to be forensically examined. Thousands of images, mainly indecent and of young girls, were found to have been stored on the drives.
These were images of children with whom he had been chatting online. They had been taken by Gray with the webcam after he had persuaded the young girls to act upon his demands and fetishes.

New Jersey man faces 10 years for rape of girl, 13 - The attorney for a New Jersey man accused of engaging in sex acts with a 13-year-old Richlandtown girl hopes to broker a deal that will prevent his client from serving a state-mandated minimum of 10 years in jail.
The pervert told a detective he met the girl in an online chat room in January where she went by the screen name “problemcutie13.”
The man claimed the two would “talk dirty” on the Internet site and in text messages.
Dimarsico’s attorney, Michael Parlow, said Wednesday his client had a consensual sexual relationship with the teen, whom the New Jersey man met in an Internet chat room.
Parlow said that based on Wednesday discussions with a prosecutor, he’s hopeful his client, if convicted, will serve less than the 10-year minimum required by the more serious charges.
There is no such thing as a consensual sexual relationship with a 13-year-old – good luck getting the charges dropped…

Butcher committed the offences while already subject to a sexual offences prevention order, banning him from using the internet to contact children.

Internet Sex Case Brings 12-year Prison Sentence - In an emotionally charged hearing, an Austin, Texas, man who traveled to West Bend several times to have sex with a 15-year-old girl he met on the Internet, was sentenced Friday to 12 years in prison as the victim and the man's three children looked on.
“You, sir, are every parent’s worst nightmare,” Judge Patrick J. Faragher told Richard F. Geyer, 44. “All of us have a bit of a monster within us. It is how you dealt with that monster that brings us here today. Now you realize how foolish and stupid you were.”
According to a criminal complaint, Geyer and the girl met in an online chat room in February 2007, after which Geyer came to West Bend several times over the next three months, often meeting her at the West Bend Public Library and then going to a motel.

Area man indicted on molestation, porn charges - A federal grand jury indicted a 33-year-old Monrovia man Tuesday, claiming he seduced 10 teenage girls over the Internet, had sex with them and took pornographic photos of the girls.
Serrano allegedly used "social networking sites on the Internet to convince high school-age girls to have sex with him and pose for pornographic pictures,"
A Netlog profile apparently created by Serrano features a photograph of him wearing only a towel and lists 27 young girls as his online "friends." Twenty-three of them are minors.
Serrano claimed to be a 17-year-old student on the page and listed his hobbies as "photography and kissing."
If convicted on all counts, Serrano faces life in prison.

Five years' jail for under-age chat room sex - A Christchurch man's sexual contact with three Auckland girls, who lied about their ages on internet adult chat-rooms, has led to a five-year jail term imposed in Christchurch District Court today.
Two of the girls were aged 15 and one was aged only 12 and was wearing her intermediate school uniform when 57-year-old Lawrence John Davidson met her on the street after the internet contact.
Judge David Saunders said the 12-year-old had been a virgin and had had sex with Davidson after four to six weeks of grooming. He had videoed her undressed and restraints had been used on her during the sex. The girl had contemplated self-harm and suicide since the offending.
The Judge also directed that Davidson be kept safe from other prisoners, and told the prison escort officer at court: "It now falls on your shoulders to ensure safe transport for this man to prison."

Ylikotila, who pleaded guilty to 12 child abuse charges, was 18 when he contacted two 13-year-old Victorian girls on an internet chat site, telling them they were only allowed to be his "girlfriend'' if they sent naked photos.
They were two of five girls aged up to 16 from across Australia he started sexual internet and mobile phone relationships with, sending them naked photos of himself in front of a mirror.
He "groomed'' some into taking photos of themselves inserting foreign objects into their genitals, and sent one girl up to 100 sexual messages a day.
He was at the "bottom of the pecking order'' of pedophiles at Berrimah jail and had been an easy target for other prisoners to abuse in C Block.

Man in court on internet sex charges - A man has appeared in court accused of using the internet to groom a 13-year-old US girl for sex and inciting her to commit suicide.
He appeared in Melbourne Magistrates Court today after being arrested at his home yesterday.
He faces four charges, including one of using the internet to send indecent material to groom a person under 16 for sexual activity.
He faces a further charge of using the internet to incite a female to commit or attempt to commit suicide and one of procuring the same girl with the aim of producing child pornography.
The offences are alleged to have occurred between January 2006 and March 27 this year.

Internet sex fiend found dead in jail - He pretended to be 18 to befriend the girl on an internet chat site largely used by teenagers. He had sex with her daily until police caught them together almost a week later.
He was convicted of seven offences of sexual activity with a child under 16, one of meeting her after sexual grooming and two of possessing indecent images of her on his computer.
While he was grooming the girl, he was on bail for sexually assaulting a middle-aged woman by twice grabbing her bottom in the street in Shipley.
He died in prison less than a month into a five-year jail sentence.

Man pleads guilty in MySpace case - The 48-year-old man, accused of raping two teenagers, using MySpace to target them, pleaded guilty Friday to two counts of statutory rape, and was sentenced to at least 40 years in prison.
The prosecutors told the Observer that the victims, both girls, were from Charlotte and were 14 and 15 at the time of the sexual assaults.
Prosecutors said the man struck up a relationship with the girls through MySpace posing as a man in his 20’s. He also chatted with them through AOL.
"Predators don't have to snatch kids from the street anymore," Miller said. "All they have to do is type in seven little letters `MySpace' on a computer and they have literally thousands of children to pick from."
When he finishes serving his minimum sentence, he'll be about 90 years old and won’t be posing much of a threat to anybody…

Former Teacher Pleads Guilty in Internet Predator Case - A former Johnson County teacher pleaded guilty Tuesday to using a computer to entice a minor to engage in sexual activity.
He admitted that he chatted with two minor girls via Web cam. He asked them to undress and show themselves to the camera, which they did. He saved the Web cam images to the hard drive of his computer. During that incident, he was posing as a boy named Ely.
A forensic examination of the computer revealed that it contained 1,890 images of child pornography and 34 videos of child pornography.

Pervert jailed for preying on young girls
A SEX menace who used the internet to prey on teenage girls was behind bars last night.
Robin David Blewett was finally caught after he lured a 16-year-old girl, from York, into his home.
The 41-year-old's arrest by detectives from North Yorkshire led to a nationwide inquiry with a team from the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre.
An inquiry found a further four teenage victims and catalogue of more than two million pornographic photographs and child abuse images on computers and discs in his home.
The inquiry also revealed he had used the internet to compile a database of more than 500 named teenage girls.
It is extremely disturbing to think that the girls involved in the investigation were approached by this perverted man while they sat in their own homes.
It's a chilling thought, but it is one we must all wise-up to....

Officer Apologizes At Hearing
He Faces Charge Of Using Internet To Try To Persuade 11-Year-Old Girl To Have Sex.
Darren Seligman, an East Windsor police officer charged with using the Internet to try to entice a 11-year-old to engage in sexual activity, apologized Monday for his actions.
Seligman, who appeared Monday in U.S. District Court in Hartford before U.S. Magistrate Judge Thomas Smith, said the situation was a nightmare of his own making and wished he would wake up. He also said he was sorry to his family and the East Windsor Police Department.
Seligman, 38, was exchanging sexually explicit instant messages with the 11-year-old girl with whom he had been communicating since September, court records show.

If these internet predators can successfully groom your children using just a keyboard, think of what they will be able to accomplish with direct voice communication. MySpaceIM with Skype will enable millions of users to place free internet Skype calls to other MySpace or Skype users.
The joining of MySpace and Skype will allow Internet predators to talk to your children for free. The service will use the same privacy settings that the MySpace account uses, meaning the user has a choice to talk to the person or not.
They have that choice with regular MySpace chat too. If you read the news, you would know that the privacy choice does not work very well because kids constantly are groomed through the MySpace service.
Hopefully we won’t see a news story posted here involving MySpaceIM but I have a really bad feeling about this one....

Warning after internet predator jailed
Children who use social networking websites are being warned to be on their guard, after a 26-year-old man from Musselburgh used the popular Bebo site to groom two underage girls for sex.
Bebo allows its users to create personal profiles, share photos, chat to existing and make new friends. Most of its 38 million users across the World do so legitimally, but Andrew Beatson from Musselburgh decided to groom a 14 -year-old girl for sex, sending her messages over a four month period, before enticing her here to his house in Musselburgh where they had intercourse.
That's not the worst of the story.
Police then tracked Beatson down and charged him, but whilst on bail, he again used Bebo to initiate sex with another 14 year old.

Internet chat led to sex with boys
A man has pleaded guilty to having sex with two teenage boys he met on an internet chat service.
James Richard Francis struck up friendships with the two victims -- aged 13 and 15 -- on MSN Messenger and then organised to meet them separately in a Bayswater car park, according to documents tendered to Melbourne Magistrates' Court.
Francis had oral sex with one boy in his car, while he took the other boy to his unit where they had oral sex, the court was told.
Francis was caught after the boy's father and uncle discovered the relationship and organised to meet him.
In documents tendered to the court, Francis told police he was held against his will and assaulted for about two hours before being taken to Croydon police station.
The boy's father and uncle caught him and assaulted him - I'm thinking he is lucky to still be alive...

A PREDATORY pedophile who stalked a 14-year-old girl on the internet and manipulated her into a sexual relationship has been jailed for at least six years.
The court was told Henderson, 36, of Strathmore, first contacted the girl in October 2005 on the internet purporting to be a 17-year-old male.
They developed an online relationship in which the girl fell in love with him.
"The most alarming aspect of this distressing story is that it all happened when (the victim) was at home and whilst her parents believed that she was secure and doing no more than her homework," Judge Duggan said.
The judge said he hoped the case received publicity as parents should be made aware the internet can be used to target and manipulate a child.
Henderson pleaded not guilty to the charges and had always denied any sexual activity with the girl - I wonder if he can plead innocent to Bubba...

AN internet pervert groomed two 14-year-old schoolgirls for sex using "social networking" website Bebo.
Andrew Beatson, 26, exchanged private messages with his first victim over a four-month period before he coaxed the vulnerable young teenager to his Edinburgh flat and had sex with her.

A former New York elementary principal admitted in court yesterday that he flew to Nebraska repeatedly to have sex with an underage girl he met on the Web.
John Monetti, former principal of Long Island’s William Floyd Elementary School, 38, pleaded guilty to travel with intent to have sex with a minor. In 2005, Monetti began an Internet chat with the girl, then 14, and bought her a cell phone to talk without raising her parents’ suspicions. In 2006, he flew to Omaha on four weekends, having sex with the girl in a motel room and in a rental van. He was arrested when cops found him in the van with the girl. He faces up to 12 years in prison.
I'm thinking he was studying kids when he was a principal. He actually gave her a cell phone so her parents wouldn't get suspicious.
It is no wonder there are so many problems in school these days - our kids look up to people like this....

A Flowery Branch High School track and assistant football coach was arrested at the school Wednesday on charges that he engaged in sexually explicit online chats with someone he thought was a minor.
Mandeville had computer contact with an undercover investigator who posed as a 14-year-old girl in an Internet chat room.
Shannon Dell Mandeville, 34, of Dacula, is charged with three felony counts of violation of the computer electronic pornography and child exploitation prevention act and one felony count of obscene Internet contact with a minor, authorities said.
The coach was not actually chatting with a minor but he could have been. It sickens me to see the people we trust attempting to engage in sexually explicit online chats with a minor....

Man caught in teen's bedroom
A Maryland man has been charged with multiple offenses after being caught in a Stafford County teenager's bedroom earlier this month, police said.
Jason Frank, 36, of Gaithersburg, met the 14-year-old girl on the Internet, sheriff's spokesman Bill Kennedy said.
An investigation by Detective Chris Cameron revealed that he had been to her home at least three times and had sex with the girl at least twice before being confronted by the mother.
According to Kennedy, the mother heard a noise early Aug. 1 and went to her daughter's bedroom. The mother entered the room and Frank was there, Kennedy said.
The mother called police, and Cameron later learned that Frank had met the girl and set up meetings while in an online chat room posing as a 28-year-old man.
I am thinking that the mother would have rather caught them in the chat room....

Man faces felonies for sex with girl
A 36-year-old Helena man faces six felony charges for allegedly soliciting sex from a 13-year-old girl on the socializing Web site MySpace and then engaging in various sex acts with the girl on multiple occasions.
Police arrested Daniel Allen Dietz Friday on five counts of sexual intercourse without consent and one charge of sexual abuse of children. Dietz allegedly had intercourse with the girl on at least five separate occasions starting in March and ending in June.
In a MySpace chat on March 25, according to court documents, Dietz spoke with the teen about “sexually explicit matters.” During the conversation, Dietz allegedly asked for a photo of the teen and she complied by sending him a photo of herself with her bare chest exposed, the documents said.

Dover man pleads guilty in Internet child-luring case
A Delaware man has pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Virginia to attempting to lure a 12-year-old girl to Delaware to have sex with him.
According to prosecutors, Wilson posed as a 15-year-old on the social networking site popteen.us.com, which caters to teenage girls, and in February made contact with three minors – a 12-year-old from Reston, Va., a 13-year-old from New Jersey and a 15-year-old from Indiana.
Over several months, according to court papers, Wilson made hundreds of cell phone calls and sent hundreds of emails and text messages to the teens, and in the case of the girl in Virginia, sent a naked photo of himself. According to court papers, in the e-mail exchanges the two professed their love for each other, had explicit conversations about sex and talked about meeting in order to follow through on what they discussed.
He now faces a minimum of 10 years in prison when he is sentenced by District Judge James C. Cacheris in October.

Police say man had sex with girl he met online
A Pennsylvania man met a Punta Gorda teenager through a MySpace.com encounter and then traveled here to have sex with her, authorities say.
The two chatted daily for about four months in an Internet chat room on the social networking site before Tyler Phillips Stancker, 19, traveled by airplane to Southwest Florida to have sex with the 14-year-old girl, authorities say.
The victim told authorities that she knew Stancker was 19 and he was aware that she was 14. She told detectives that she and Stancker had planned their meeting. She provided investigators with details of their activity over a weeklong period.
"Parents need to monitor what their children are doing on the Internet," said Lt. Donna Ogden of the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office. "It is definitely a danger and kids need to be cautious of what information they put out there and reveal about themselves."

Senior United States District Judge Walter H. Rice of the Southern District of Ohio did a great job on this one. He also made a statement that many parents need to hear.
"The first warning is to parents who think their children are safe on the internet. And to parents to check on their children's internet activities. You are not invading their privacy. But you could end up saving their lives. Thank goodness no child was physically harmed by this perpetrator, but what harm he did to their psychological well being may not be know for years."
Then he sent a warning to the predators too.
"The second warning is to anyone who thinks he can get away with doing something like this. No matter how hard you try to hide your identity, you can be found and prosecuted"
That warning is a bit of an empty threat because they will never catch them all - maybe with some more help from the parents.....

Man Accused Of Luring Mass. Teen To Charlotte Over The Internet
Authorities say an Internet relationship between a man and a 15-year-old girl ended at a home in Charlotte over the weekend.
Police say Kareem Kirk, 34, lured the girl to a small duplex on East Seventh Street – hundreds of miles from her home in Springfield, Mass.
Accord to a police search warrant, Kirk had been in touch with the girl over the Internet for two years, and their online relationship had led to her e-mailing him nude pictures of herself in sexually suggestive positions.
Then the teen’s family reported her missing on July 3.
I have always been amazed at how patient these groomers are. They were chatting and emailing for two years before she ended up missing. So she started chatting and sending him pictures of herself when she was only 13-years-old.

Ex-EBR sheriff's detective gets 30 years for internet soliciation
A retired homicide detective from Baton Rouge has been sentenced to the maximum 30 years in federal prison for using the internet to try to solicit sex from what he thought was a 14-year-old girl.
U.S. District Judge Patricia Minaldi told Karl D. Kretser, 43, that his actions were despicable, especially since he used his own daughter's online information to get in touch with someone he thought was another child.
"The Internet has created a new breed of predator. You are that new breed,"
Kretser was arrested at Cortana Mall, where he was head of security and where he had set up a meeting with the supposed child.
"Kretser admitted that he had engaged in sexually explicit chat with the 'girl' and came to pick her up"

David Halverson, 44, a computer technician from St. Catharines and father of a young boy, was charged with luring a child and invite to sexual touching.
The sharp eyes of a Hamilton woman led to the arrest of a St. Catharines man who allegedly tried to lure her brother over the Internet to a park, Hamilton police say.
The 12-year-old boy was chatting with a man via an instant messaging program Wednesday, when his sister noticed something was out of place, said Det. Const. Douglas Rees of the Hamilton police's child pornography unit.
A meeting was arranged at the park, and police say he arrived at the park with condoms, lubricant and a digital camera.
Weeks said this investigation is rare in that a family member interrupted an online conversation between a predator and a potential victim.
"I have to tell you there is a deplorable lack of knowledge on the part of parents. They just don't know what their kids are doing," he said. "We often don't find out what happened until after the fact." Parents have to be more aware of what their children are doing online and install software that tracks what is done on their computers, he said.

Donald Rager, 40, met the boy through an Internet chat room, according to court records. Rager took him to a Dubuque, Iowa, hotel on Feb. 12, 2006, and had sex while Rager video-recorded them, prosecutors said. Rager also showed the boy other videos of men having sex with minor boys.

Multiple charges were filed Tuesdsay against a Murfreesboro father accused of trying to solicit a 14-year-old Louisiana girl for sex, a sheriff’s detective said.
Father Gregory Freeman, 48, of 306 Olympia Place was charged with multiple counts of computerized solicitation of a minor, indecent behavior with a juvenile and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, said Detective Mickey McCullough. More charges may be pending.
The warrants stated Freeman tried to entice the girl to come to Tennessee by paying for a plane ticket, the detective said.

A 39-year-old pervert with a “disregard for humanity” was sent to the penitentiary today for having sex with a 13-year-old boy he met on an Internet chat line.
“He has acted out and sexually offended against a child,” said Crown prosecutor Steven Bilodeau. “He’s crossed the line.”
According to agreed facts, Hansma first met the teen victim on the Edmonton-based Nexopia web site in August 2005 and, while he said he was 35 despite being 38 at the time, he knew throughout that the boy was 13.
Their online conversations culminated in a meeting at Westmount Shopping Centre.
However, after lunch they took a taxi to a downtown hotel where Hansma had booked a room. They watched TV, talked and drank booze and then had sex.

Police: Girl lured from chatroom - A Bergen County man has been charged with using the Internet to lure a 14-year-old Newton girl into several sexual encounters outside her home since April, detectives said. Police allege Florentino, a tech support employee for an unspecified company in Hackensack, picked the girl up in his 1995 Nissan Pathfinder "and then committed several acts of sexual assault and sexual contact upon the child victim."
Florentino is charged with sexual assault and electronic luring of a child, both second-degree crimes, third degree endangering the welfare of a child and fourth-degree aggravated criminal sexual contact.
"Prepare your children for the online world just as you would for the real world and protect them from it," the center recommends.
The recent arrest in Newton proves that online behavior is indeed part of real life, detectives said.

Authorities believe a Los Angeles college student used the Internet to seduce an 11-year-old Porterville girl for sex after meeting her in an online chat room.
Court records show Breceda met the 11-year-old girl in January in an online chat room that uses video cameras so users can see each other.
Two relatives posed as the girl and used the computer to contact Breceda and learned more about the relationship, according to court records.
"The credit has to go to the family," Sgt. Chris Douglass said about their help in capturing Breceda.
"The biggest thing that [parents] can do is to monitor what their children are doing on the Internet and know what their children are doing with friends," she said.

Jamie Taylor, 26, “groomed” the girl over a period of several hours and after gaining her confidence persuaded her to remove her clothes and to engage in sexual acts, Ipswich Crown Court heard yesterday.

Jail for man who 'groomed' girl (12) over Internet
A 23-year-old Nelson man has been jailed for 3½ years after he groomed a 12-year-old girl on the Internet and travelled across the country for love trysts with her in hotel rooms.
Michael Lockwood swopped sex stories in chat rooms and text-messages with the under-age girl before booking hotels in Banbury, Oxfordshire, and Guildford, Surrey, where they met.
Judge Michael Addison, sentencing at Guildford Crown Court, reminded Lockwood how he had met the 12-year-old girl on the Internet and steered conversations to a sexual agenda: "You asked her for naked pictures and she sent them to you. She said she was in love with you and you said you loved her. By this time you knew she was just 12."
Noting the girl's active involvement in the relationship, he said: "Girls of this age must be protected from themselves."
This one is a wake up call for parents to watch what their kids do on the Internet.

Trooper busted - Sergeant accused of trying to solicit sex from underage girls
A Michigan State Police sergeant was arrested at his desk Monday on charges of soliciting sex over the Internet from underage girls.
Sgt. Kevin Hardoin, 45, who formerly served in Monroe as coordinator for a chapter of the Safe Kids program, was arrested by investigators from the Michigan Attorney General's Office.

Miss America shines light on Internet safety
Lauren Nelson only has been wearing the Miss America tiara for seven weeks and she is back home in Oklahoma, and one of her stops was at the state Capitol, where she spoke to legislators Monday about her platform, Internet safety for children.
The bill will allow the courts to prohibit registered sex offenders from accessing certain communication Web sites, like MySpace and Facebook, and requires them to register with authorities any current e-mail addresses they are using.
“It’s scary but it’s true,” Wesselhoft said. “Your child may be communicating with molesters and rapists right in your own home. These online social networking sites are an open invitation for child predators to communicate with children.”
Nelson, a former University of Central Oklahoma student , said studies show one in five children in Oklahoma are inappropriately approached online. It happened to her when she was 13.
Nelson said she was at a seventh-grade sleepover party when she and a group of her young friends joined an online conversation with an older man in a chat room. Innocently, the girls provided the man with personal information.

Paedophiles used internet chat to lure 14-year-old
A PAEDOPHILE ring groomed and sexually abused a 14-year-old boy after he logged on to a gay internet chat room looking for friends.
Gardaí said it was possible that up to 10 men were involved in either abusing the child, attempting to meet him or grooming him. Sources said there may be further arrests.
“We believe that contact was made over the internet, on a gay website,” said a garda source.
“These are sinister characters sharing information with each other. There’s a degree of organisation and they operate in secrecy,” said a source.

A 28-year-old Brenham man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after he twice was caught by investigators using the Internet to solicit a minor for sex.
John David Payne, 28, first was arrested in December 2005 when he drove from Brenham to Bastrop to meet with whom he believed would be a child, but ended up being an investigator with the Texas Attorney General's Office.
While free on bail, he was caught by authorities in Washington County for soliciting another minor, officials said.
I usually try to stay away from the sting operations because they are not quite on the level to begin with. This story is worth noting to show just how intent these predators are. He gets arrested, gets free on bail and while out on bail, gets arrested for the same crime - amazing. Kids don't stand a chance.....

12-year-old met molester over internet
A policeman is pleading innocent against charges of molesting a 12-year-old girl whom he met at an internet chat room.
His lawyer has accused the girl of fabricating a dramatic statement, blaming her fondness for cinema and television.
The Public Prosecution had charged the 27-year-old Omani policeman, H.H., with molesting the girl after she agreed to meet with him.
This story deserves mention for the fact that the charges are against a policeman and we will probably never see any more of this one in the news.....

MySpace not responsible for your children

Four families from four separate states filed lawsuits against News Corp., the parent company of MySpace, because their underage daughters were sexually assaulted by people they met on the social-networking site. Though it may seem like a novel way for the parents to make some extra cash, MySpace is not responsible for the actions of its users. At some point individuals in this country have to start carrying some of the burden for their actions. These include parents, and yes, teenagers as well.
Apparently, litigiousness has replaced quality parenting as the way to raise the youth of this country. Parents often pass the buck when their children make poor choices. Whether they get arrested for possession of drugs, don't get playing time on a sports team or get poor grades in the school, the children are never to blame. Instead, parents blame society, coaches, teachers and other social influences, instead of properly disciplining and raising the children themselves. This is not meant to demean the horrific abuses that these girls suffered. Many of them are too young to maturely deal with a sexual relationship, and many were not seeking one in the first place. Rape and sexual assault is uncalled for and can be psychologically traumatizing for many years. Unfortunately, many adults use social sites such as MySpace, Facebook and Xanga, to lure unsuspecting minors into potentially-harmful situations.
Claiming ignorance and attempting to pass the responsibility onto MySpace is not a legitimate excuse to file a lawsuit. Responsible parents have to become familiar with the Internet and its benefits and dangers.

Girl's parents sue MySpace, call for increased safety controls
In court papers she is listed as Julie Doe III — one of thousands of Houston-area teenagers who have created personal profiles at MySpace.com.
But instead of finding new online friends, a lawsuit filed this week against the Web site alleges, the 15-year-old met an adult predator who drugged and raped her.
The girl's attorneys and mother hope the lawsuit, also filed on behalf of four girls with similar experiences from other states, will change the way media giant News Corp. operates its popular Web site. Experts, though, question whether the courts can fix what has become a systemic problem in the Internet age: online sexual predators.
One question:
If the girl met the predator on a playground, would the parents sue the playground? Parents need to accept the responsibility of being a parent and know what their children are doing on the Internet.

Sex raps for T.O. man
A 24-year-old Toronto man was arrested in Ottawa early yesterday and charged with a string of sex offences after allegedly carrying on a three-month Internet relationship with a 13-year-old girl and meeting her in Ottawa.
"He came to Ottawa to meet her and they met up at a location. As a result, some activities (occurred)," Det. Rohan King of the Ottawa police's sexual assault and child abuse unit said of the accused man.
The investigation began Friday night after the girl's concerned parents contacted police. Although it was reported the pair were found at a motel, King would not confirm where the arrest was made.
Can you imagine - a 13-year-old girl having an "Internet relationship" for 3-months with nobody knowing anything about it? Who is watching this young girl?

Man accused of having sex with girl
A Dearborn man was arraigned Tuesday on charges he had sex with a township girl he met in an Internet chat room.
Police Chief Chuck Melki said the victim, 14, met Seklawi in a chat room in mid-December. In late December he came to her house about 1 p.m. and the two had sex in the girl's basement, Melki said.
Melki said it's imperative parents monitor their children on computers.

Sex with girl nets 45-year sentence
Evans, 39, of Camden was ordered to serve 45 years in prison yesterday for his trysts with a 14-year-old Stafford girl he'd met on the Internet.
Court records show that Evans told police that he met the girl in a Yahoo chat room while using instant messaging.
He said he first went to see her while she was staying at her mother's home in Prince George's County, Md.
He said the mother was sleeping when the girl let him in. Evans claimed that they only talked that night, but the girl later told police that a sex act took place.
The last encounter between Evans and the girl occurred at her father's home in Stafford on Valentine's Day 2005.
Another one down, and another one that could have been stopped long before it got as far as it did......

Former teacher sentenced for assault
Former Baraboo High School music teacher Jeffrey Roy was sentenced to serve two-and-a-half years in prison Wednesday for having sex with a 14-year-old rural Montello boy.
Roy admitted to having sex with the boy at his Montello home after the two met in an adult chat room on the Internet. They then began conversing on a person-to-person Internet-based communications service, according to the criminal complaint.

Officials say teen coerced into exposing herself with Web cam
A New York man faces federal charges after police said he threatened a young teenage girl from Ohio and coerced her into using a Web camera to take explicit images that he later posted on the online social network Myspace.com.
Brown met the 13-year-old girl in an online chat room for cheerleaders, according to court documents.
Police said he pursued her with sexually explicit instant messages and threatened to harm her and her family if she didn't expose herself via the Web cam.
The girl complied and didn't tell her parents until after she found the images on Myspace.com. Brown opened an account on the social networking site in the teenager's name and posted an image of the girl exposing herself and included her name and address, according to court documents.
This is a little scary. He threatened her family. Wouldn't you want to know if you were being threatened? A monitoring program would have let you know instantly and stopped this whole mess before it even started.......

The MySpace Nightmare

Try this little experiment. Go to MySpace and when the page loads, look for the word “search” at the top, left-hand part of the screen. Click on it.

When that page loads, look for the “MySpace Search” area. Type the name of your city or community in the search box and click search.

Sit back and browse the search results. Be prepared for a bit of a surprise. Browse around the pages for awhile and then think to yourself; “What if I were a child predator” You can almost picture an Internet predator drooling over his keyboard at all those profiles…… and addresses…… and pictures…….
When I first tried this experiment, I found a 14 year old with his address posted that lives less than a half a mile from my house. His parents had no idea!
I hope you don’t have nightmares from this little experiment but it just goes to show just how vulnerable kids are today. Protect them by knowing what they are doing.

Florida Man Accused of Hawaii Rape
A reasonably innocent conversation on a computer chat line ended in a traumatic experience for a 15-year-old Oahu girl. The girl told police she met 33-year-old Anthony Waterman of Florida in a Yahoo.com chat room.
He flew to Hawaii and invited her to his rented room in Kaneohe, then raped her.
Sexual predators no longer jump out from behind bushes or shadowy buildings. They find their victims in their own homes.
Prevention is the key for parents to protect their kids.

POLICE ARE warning parents of the dangers lurking for children on the Internet after a teenage boy from Kitimat was charged after having a sexually explicit conversation with a pre-teen Terrace girl in an Internet chat room last week.
Terrace RCMP arrested 18-year-old Lionel Smith in Terrace after the 11-year-old girl reported the chat room incident to her parents Nov. 13.

Dalton man admits sexual assault on boy
A 42-year-old Dalton man will spend one to three years behind bars after he admitted yesterday that he sexually assaulted a 13-year-old boy in January 2005 after meeting him on the Internet. Good Place for him!
The boy had been corresponding with Burke in an Internet chat room, and Burke made arrangements to meet at the boy's home in Pittsfield on the night of Jan. 10, 2005, according to Caccaviello. Burke showed up after the boy's parents left the house and engaged in sexual activity with the teenager, Caccaviello said.
The boy's parents called for help after they returned home and discovered Burke hiding in their son's bedroom.....
How would you like to come home to find that situation? The parents could have caught it a lot sooner with an Internet monitoring program.

Teacher-coach charged with online solicitation
A Detroit middle school teacher and youth travel hockey coach was charged Monday with attempting to solicit a 13-year-old boy in an online chat room.
Fawkes is a seventh-grade science teacher at Columbus Middle School in Detroit and is head coach of a Plymouth-Canton Hockey Association midget-level (ages 15-16) travel hockey team.
He was charged with using a computer to accost and solicit a minor and with using a computer to disseminate sexually explicit matter to a minor.
"It is particularly disturbing when those who are placed in positions of trust are accused of committing sex crimes against children," Cox said.
It is very disturbing when teachers and coaches of our children are caught trying to solicit our children - Very Disturbing........

A Lahaina man who initiated contact with a 14-year-old girl on the Internet, eventually persuading her to go with him to a secluded Spreckelsville road, was ordered to spend a year in jail in a hearing Friday in 2nd Circuit Court.
“You are every parent’s worst nightmare – the one who will take advantage,” Judge Richard Bissen told 24-year-old Eugene S. Reyes. “You may not see it that way, but I do.”

Kentucky man convicted in porn case involving Arkansas teen
A former law enforcement officer convicted of sexually exploiting a 14-year-old Arkansas girl he met on the Internet is to be sentenced in December.
Wise, 38, a locksmith and former Clark County sheriff's deputy, was convicted by a federal jury Thursday of traveling out of state to have sex with a minor, transporting a minor across state lines for the purpose of having sex with her, lying to a federal officer and possession of child pornography.
Wise traveled to Arkansas three times. On one of those trips, the two had sex at an Arkansas hotel. On the third trip, in January, Wise brought the girl to Kentucky with him.
This man was a former Law Enforcement officer! Again, you can't trust anyone with your kids!

Mass. man charged with raping T.C. girl
Tompkins County Sheriff's deputies have charged a 40 year-old Massachusetts man with raping a local 16-year-old girl he allegedly met on the Internet.
He communicated with the girl via Internet chat rooms and e-mail, and arranged to meet her Thursday.
After meeting her, he allegedly took her to a motel outside the city and raped her, the sheriff's office said.

Pa. Man Accused Of Sex Chat With Teen
Wells Township Police Chief John Ingram was surprised at how quickly a Pennsylvania man arrived at a Brilliant playground to meet a teenage girl.
Ingram said David Boyce, 25, of Burgettstown was speechless when police arrested him at about 5 p.m. Monday in Brilliant’s North Park. He was taken into custody for soliciting sex via the Internet from a 15-year-old village girl he traveled to Ohio to meet.
We started talking to him at 3 p.m., and by 5 p.m. he was arrested,” Ingram said.
Ingram said the teen had her first Internet contact with Boyce Sunday on the suspect’s MySpace site. The girl told her mother when Boyce made sexually suggestive comments.

Connecticut man accused of traveling to Ohio for underage sex
The FBI's Internet Crimes Task Force has arrested 59-year-old John P. Dobrowolski, a man who ran an internet chat room about sex with underage girls.
Dobrowolski apparently drove 560 miles, from Connecticut to Stark County Friday night. Police say he had done research on parks and secluded areas in Massillon and found handcuffs and leg irons on Dobrowolski when they arrested him.
"It gives you goosebumps, it makes you sick," says Navarre business owner Michelle Picknell of Paradise Flea Market. She has a 14-year old daughter herself. "It's scary enough to know she's growing up much less to have predators out there."
I sure hope Michelle is monitoring her daughters computer activity. This guy actually had handcuffs and leg irons with him.

The retired IT consultant had pretended to be a 20-year-old called Rod when he talked to two 14-year-old girls in a chat room.
He arranged a meeting and the following day, drove from his home in Stirling to Eyemouth, Berwickshire, to meet the girls.

Detroiter charged in sexual assault of teenager
A man who was ordered last month to stand trial on a charge of sexually assaulting a teenage boy he lured over the Internet was charged Thursday with sexually assaulting another boy he met in an Internet chat room last year.
Attorney General Mike Cox said Gourlay sexually assaulted a 14-year-old boy over several months in 2005 in Detroit and other locations in Wayne County.
They just don't give up! Strong creatures indeed.
