Only on the Internet do we have cops posing as kids, kids posing as adults, and adults posing as cops.....

Text sleaze jailed for 'grooming' 14yo
A FATHER of three who started an email relationship with a 14-year-old schoolgirl after she sent him a random SMS has been jailed for attempting to use the internet to lure the teenager into a sexual relationship.
The relationship began when Richard Gerard Meehan received an unsolicited text message from the Canberra schoolgirl trying to contact a former teacher named Richard.
After these initial messages, the pair swapped email addresses and began an online long-distance romance.
Although Meehan did not initiate the contact, a Victorian magistrate said yesterday "like-minded adults" who were tempted to use the internet or text messaging to manipulate vulnerable children into sexual relationships must be deterred.
Even though she intitiated it, a 54 - year -old should know better.....

MySpace used to `lure' girl, 13
He advertised himself on MySpace.com as a "gay Toronto boy" who is a "sweet person" and easy to talk to, but police allege "Schnail" was an online sexual predator who traded child porn and convinced a 13-year-old small-town Ontario girl to perform sex acts on her webcam.
Give a 13-year old a toy - wonder if her parents know what a webcam is? Bet they do now!
MySpace is a wildly popular Internet site for teens. It has sparked controversy in the United States, where critics say the website is a magnet for pedophiles and sexual predators.
So is a playground.......

Good Job Judge!

MySpace may face legislative crackdown
Politicians on Tuesday accused MySpace.com and other social-networking sites of failing to protect minors from sexual predators and other malign influences and said a legislative crackdown may be necessary.
"MySpace.com has been a center of drug activity, of gang activity, and of Internet predators," said Rep. Mark Kirk, an Illinois Republican. "Isn't it entirely appropriate that the state get involved?"
This is a problem – we do not want the government to take over the Internet. If the government takes over, the Internet will never be the same.
What we need is for the parents to take more responsibility about what their kids are doing on the Internet. Most parents want to know where there kids are going when they leave the house but do not seem to care what they do on the Internet – makes no sense to me at all…...
